Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory

Rocky Mountain Advisors is a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm serving small and middle-market companies — representing business owners through a sale and investors through an acquisition, from strategy to close.

Sell-side and buy-side representation, handled by advisors who stay with the transaction from the first conversation through closing day.

IIOur Process

From strategy to close

Four stages, run in sequence. The same advisors stay with the transaction throughout — there is no hand-off between the people who plan the deal and the people who close it.

I

Strategy

We start by understanding your goals — whether that is a full exit, a partial sale, or a disciplined acquisition strategy.

II

Preparation

We help prepare the business or the acquisition thesis, ensuring you enter the market from a position of strength.

III

Market Engagement

We manage outreach and conversations with qualified counterparties — sellers, buyers, and capital sources — on your behalf.

IV

Negotiation & Close

We guide negotiations, diligence, and closing mechanics, working to protect your interests at every stage.

IVWhat to Expect

Questions owners ask first

Selling or acquiring a company is unfamiliar territory for most people who do it. These are the questions that tend to come up in a first conversation, answered plainly.

Is a first conversation confidential?
Yes. Early conversations are exploratory and held in confidence. Nothing is shared with a prospective buyer or seller without your direction, and a confidentiality agreement governs any information released as a process gets underway.
How much preparation happens before going to market?
More than most owners expect. Preparation means organising financial records, clarifying how the business is positioned, and anticipating the questions a serious counterparty will ask. Time spent here is what allows a process to move quickly once it begins.
How are counterparties approached?
Through a controlled, confidential process. Prospective buyers or targets are identified and qualified first, then approached on a no-names basis until a confidentiality agreement is in place and it is clear the conversation is worth having.
What does an advisor actually do during diligence?
We coordinate information requests, keep the timeline moving, and absorb the administrative weight of the process. The intent is that you stay focused on running the business — a company that slips during diligence is a company that renegotiates at close.
When should an owner start the conversation?
Earlier than feels necessary. Even when a sale is some years away, having the conversation early gives you the option of acting on your own timing rather than reacting to someone else's.
